Ukulele Shenanigans

UKULELE SHENANIGANS

Hang on for the laughter and the ride as we sing and play together. It's a ukulele jukebox and participants make up the set list as we go, drawing song titles from a 200+ list of favorites. You'll get the most out of it if you have a fair strum and a decent command of at least the basic chords (A, Am, C, D, Dm, D7, E7, Em, F, G, G7).

WHEN: It's FREE! Wednesday, June 7, 6:30-8:00 p.m. EST
WHERE: Zoom!

STRUM REHAB WORKSHOP + SHENANIGAN

Freshen up your strum and free up your ukulele playing style at this light-hearted, in-person Ukulele Strum Rehab workshop — then put those skills to use at the sing-along/play-along Ukulele Shenanigan that follows!

In the workshop, you’ll learn techniques to help make your strum more natural, consistent, and spontaneous. We’ll explore easy ways to synchronize with a song’s beat and add rhythm to make it sound more like the version of the song that plays on your inner jukebox.

Wherever you are in your ukulele journey, this workshop can help free your strum from hum-drum habits.

To get the most out of the class and the Shenanigan that follows, it helps to be able to strum with relative ease and to be able to move among basic chords (A, Am, C, D, D7, Dm, E7, Em, F, G, G7). Wherever you are in your ukulele journey, this workshop can help free your strum from hum-drum habits.

The Shenanigan is a fun, live sing-along for ukulelians of all levels of play. After all, one of the best ways to improve your skills is to play with others. Whether you’re just barely hanging on for the ride or you’re a seasoned player, this jam offers an array of song choices from easy to challenging — YOU get to choose!

Participants choose from a list of over 200 songs (download the current list here), we project the chords and lyrics on the screen, and away we go! Led by Ukulele Clare and Rebecca “The Band” Padula, we’ll offer playing tips and techniques as we go.

There are a limited number of ukuleles available to borrow for the event for the princely sum of $5, but you do need to reserve them in advance. If you would like to reserve one, be sure to choose a ticket that includes a rental uke.

The workshop and Shenanigan start on time, so arrive a little early if you can to give you time to find a seat and tune up. If you need to arrive late, that's ok, too! We'll be happy to see you whenever you arrive.
