You're welcome to bring your uke and play along at certain performances (indicated with "Play along.") For play-along gigs, feel free to download a Ukulele Shenanigan packet, which will contain songs that we'll likely play. You can find the latest version on the Shenanigan page.

October

  • Class: Ukulele Skillbuilder: Level 2 Thursdays, Oct. 26, Nov. 2, 9 & 16 @ 6:00-7:00 CVU High School (369 CVU Road, Hinesburg, VT), through CVU Access. This 4-week course is where your playing takes flight: In this fun class, we'll reinforce those basic ukulele chords and strums and explore fresh territory. We'll learn how to use strumming patterns to add texture to songs. We'll smooth out chord transitions and work on timing and other ways of bringing more musicality into your playing. Bring your questions and quandaries and we'll take 'em on! We'll practice jamming together so you'll be ready for the holidays. Ukes will be available for rent ($20 for 4 weeks) or for purchase at class. Contact me if you need to rent a uke.This class is geared for adults age 18+. November

  • Performance Saturday, Nov 4 @ 11:00-1:00 Willliston Craft Show (Williston Central School, 195 Central School Dr., Williston, VT) come peruse the art and crafts and enjoy some fun, family-friendly music with Ukulele Clare and Rebecca Padula!

  • Class: Ukulele Holiday Song Tuneup Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30, 11/28 - 12/19 at the O'Brien Community Center, Winooski, VT. What's your favorite holiday song? If your answer is "all of them," then this lighthearted 4-week class is for you. We'll sing and laugh and explore some of the ukulele techniques and chords that will help get these songs in hand in time for holiday gatherings. To get the most out of the class, I suggest brushing up on these chords: A, A7, Am, C, C7, D, D7, Dm, E7, Em, F, G, G7. Baritone chords aren't covered, but most of the techniques will apply. This class is geared for adults 18+. Register through the Winooski Rec Dept.

  • Performance Thursday, Nov 29 @ Four Quarters Brewing (70 Main St., Winooski, VT) Join the Mama Tried String Band for BBQ & Bluegrass Wednesdays at this fun, local brewery! 

 

December

  • Performance Thursday, 11/14 @ 6:00-8:00 Blue Paddle Bistro (316 Rt. 2, South Hero, VT) join Rebecca Padula and Ukulele Clare to croon some holiday toons and enjoy a mouthwatering feast! Reservations recommended. 802-372-4814

  • Ukulele Shenanigan!  Tuesday, Dec. 19 @ 5:30-6:30, O'Brien Community Center (32 Malletts Bay Ave., Winooski, VT) We'll sing and play our favorite holiday songs and ring in the season. All ukulelians and singers and song-savorers welcome!  Register through the Winooski Rec Dept.

  • Performance Friday, 12/19 @ 6:00-9:00 Stone's Throw (39 Esplanade, Richmond, VT) It's the Mama Tried String Band! Rebecca Padula, Linda Kallinger, Kathy Mulligan, and Ukulele Clare playing new and old bluegrass, country, folk, blues, and Americana favorites.

  • Class: Intro to Ukulele: Tiptoe into the Joy of Making Music - Monday, Feb. 26, 6:30-8:00 in YOUR living room ... via Zoom! In this lighthearted workshop, you will learn how to strum, form chords, and make music. All you need is a song in your heart and an adventurous spirit—no musical background necessary. The ukulele is one of the easiest instruments to learn. With a little know-how, practice, and gumption, you’ll be on your way to playing songs in any genre of music. It’s one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Here is some advice if you’re shopping for a ukulele. (HINT: Let the ukulele choose you!). This course does not include instruction for baritone ukuleles. Geared for adults ages 18+.
