Rediscover the joy of singing ... with your ukulele!

Groovin' the Blues With Your Voice and Ukulele

Build confidence in singing with emotion and groove, hitting the right notes, and accompanying yourself on your ukulele. Our guide will be the 12-bar blues, the bedrock format for country, folk, and rock. This class will help unlock greater ease in your ability to sing and play all types of music. If you don't feel at home in your voice, this class will help you gently reconnect with the joy of singing.

Don't play the ukulele? Many of the concepts can be easily translated to other instruments. Don't play any instrument (yet)? You will still gain valuable insights into building vocal confidence.

In this lighthearted workshop, we’ll explore lessons using “Love Me Like a Man,” “Route 66,” “Hit the Road, Jack,” and other old and new favorites to learn singing techniques for warming up, finding the right notes, and belting it out. We’ll work on strengthening your ukulele strum and adding groove and swing so you’ll be ready for prime time in no time.

Skill level

Ukulelians will get the most out of this workshop if you can strum steadily and can change easily among the following chords - they’re all pretty basic 2- and 3-finger chords: A, A7, Am, B7 (not a bar chord!), C, C7, D, E7, Em7, F, G, and G7.

This class is geared for adults.
